PLUS MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
Climate Change is the biggest challenge of our time. Dramatic emissions reductions are needed urgently to avoid dangerous tipping points and irreversible impacts to the economy and the planet.
Australia is well placed for a transition to clean energy. Yet when faced with this immense challenge, the Government is failing to act. They are putting the interests of big business above the Australian people. Billions of dollars in compensation and subsidies to polluting industries is ensuring their survival at the expense of much needed investment in renewable energies.
On June 13, join thousands of people around the country at the National Climate Emergency Rally. The rally is a vital opportunity to send our governments a united message that the Australian public wants strong, swift and real action to solve the climate crisis.
We only have a small window of opportunity to get this right. We need your help to build a people's movement for a safe climate future.
Add your voice to ours on June 13 to demand:
1. 100% renewable energy by 2020
Australia must shift to 100% renewable energy from wind, solar and other existing technologies within a decade.
2. Green collar jobs with a just transition for workers
We can renew our economy by creating hundreds of thousands of 'green jobs' and supporting workers to make the shift to sustainable industries.
3. A strong international agreement with climate justice for all
Australia must take the lead in global climate talks, not undermine them with an ineffective 5%-15% target. We must support our Pacific neighbours and other developing countries, who are least responsible for climate change.
4. Stop Rudd's Weak Emissions Trading scheme - real action to stop climate change!
The Government's draft Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) is a serious step backwards. It will allow big companies to go on polluting and won't reduce Australia's greenhouse pollution.
WEAR RED to signify a climate emergency and bring banners and signs.
